As a parent, a teacher and an IT trainer I am very aware how many of us 30 and 40 somethings don't have much of a clue when it comes to information technology. Sure we use email and some of us have bloggs but the internet is exploding with new technologies. Our kids use it all the time, their friends tell them about what's new and they have no reservation about signing up to new services and publishing themselves on the net. We need to be able to help our children to use these technologies safely and so we need to understand them ourselves. This group is about staying informed about what's out there in CyberSpace and how to keep up with our kids. As parents and teachers we are responsible for our children's health, welfare and education and this, like it or not, now involves monitoring and supporting our childrens virtual, online lives as well as their real ones.
